General Instructions

Transfer templates onto tracing paper as a guide. Follow measurement diagram arrows to determine working direction. Repeat Fantasy Stitch diagrams A–D according to each part. All sizes begin at the waist and are worked in rows and rounds as directed.

Size 2 years

Step 1: Back and Front Shorts

With 2.0 mm crochet hook, begin at waist. Foundation chain: 69 ch. Work Fantasy Stitch (A) from Row 1 to 23. Create two identical pieces. Sew sides together along side seam (~7.0 in). Join crotch with 1 sl st as marked.

Step 2: Leg Edging

Join yarn at Row 23 edge. Work Fantasy Stitch (B), Rounds 24–29, in the round for both legs.

Step 3: Waistband

Join yarn to the foundation chain and work Fantasy Stitch (C), Rounds 30–32 in the round. Waistband height: ~1.0 in.

Step 4: Upper Front and Straps

Join yarn on front waistband left side. Work Fantasy Stitch (D), Rows 33–50. Front panel height: ~5.75 in. Continue straps separately from Rows 51–92. Strap length: ~9.5 in. Finish with sc. border around straps and waistband. Sew button on each strap and attach to back waistband.

Cord

Make a twisted cord of length ~34.75 in. Weave through waistband and tie in a bow at front.
