Materials:

2 skeins each of Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 (400 g) in the following colors:

•      8001 (White)

•      7625 (Chestnut)

•      7259 (Bronze)

1 skein of Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 color 1289 (Canary);

3.5 mm (E-4) crochet hook;

Scissors;

Tape measure;

Tapestry needle.

 

Gauge:

Each motif from Diagram 1 + Diagram 2 – Motif 1, made with Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 and a 3.5 mm (E-4) hook, measures 16 x 16 cm / 6¼ x 6¼ in.

Instructions:

Motif 1 – Part 1

With Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Canary, begin with a magic ring.

Round 1

Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, rep from to 2 more times, join with sl st.

Round 2

Ch 3, 1 dc in same base st, 15 dc inc, join with sl st, fasten off.

Round 3

Join Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in White, ch 3, 1 dc inc in same base st, ch 1, 1 3-dc inc, ch 1, skip 1 base st, rep from to 6 more times, join with sl st, leave yarn attached.

Round 4

Join Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Chestnut to Round 2 from the RS of the piece in the skipped st from the previous rnd, ch 6, skip 1 base st, working from the RS, make 1 dc over Round 2, ch 3, skip 1 base st, rep from to 6 more times, join with sl st, leave yarn attached.

Round 5

With Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in White, work over Round 3 leaving the chains from Round 4 on the WS, ch 3, 1 dc inc, 1 dc, ch 1, skip 1 base st, 1 dc, 1 dc inc, 1 dc, ch 1, skip 1 base st, rep from to 6 more times, join with sl st, leave yarn attached.

Round 6

With Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Chestnut, work over Round 4 from the RS, leaving the chains from Round 5 on the WS, ch 3, 1 dc in same base st, ch 3, skip 3 base sts, work over the dc from Round 4 from the RS, leaving the chains from Round 5 on the WS, 1 dc inc, ch 3, skip 3 base sts, rep from to 6 more times, join with sl st, leave yarn attached.

Continue following Diagram 1 – Part 1 in joined rnds, changing colors as indicated. Leave the Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Chestnut attached after the final color change and fasten off the White yarn.

Motif 1 – Part 2

Continue with Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Chestnut, working over Round 8 of Diagram 1, leaving the dc motifs from the previous rnd on the RS and the chains on the WS.

Round 1

7 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 dc, ch 2, and 2 dc in same base st, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 11 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, rep from to 2 more times, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 4 sc, join with sl st.

Continue following Diagram 2 in joined rnds, changing colors as indicated. Make 16 identical motifs and set aside.

Motif 2 – Part 1

With Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Canary, begin with a magic ring.

Round 1

Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, rep from to 2 more times, join with sl st.

Round 2

Ch 3, 1 dc in same base st, 15 dc inc, join with sl st, fasten off.

Round 6

With Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in White, work over Round 4 from the RS, leaving the chains from Round 5 on the WS, ch 3, 1 dc in same base st, ch 3, skip 3 base sts, work over the dc from Round 4 from the RS, leaving the chains from Round 5 on the WS, 1 dc inc, ch 3, skip 3 base sts, rep from to 6 more times, join with sl st, leave yarn attached.

Continue following Diagram 1 – Part 1 in joined rnds, changing colors as indicated. Leave the White yarn attached after the final color change and fasten off the Bronze yarn.

Motif 2 – Part 2

Continue with Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in White, working over Round 8 of Diagram 1, leaving the dc motifs from the previous rnd on the RS and the chains on the WS.

Round 1

7 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 dc, ch 2, and 2 dc in same base st, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 11 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, rep from to 2 more times, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 4 sc, join with sl st.

Continue following Diagram 2 in joined rnds, changing colors as indicated. Make 16 identical motifs and set aside.

Blanket Assembly

For the blanket, use 14 Motif 1 pieces and 14 Motif 2 pieces. Sew the motifs together by hand using Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in White, following the blanket assembly diagram.

Blanket Border

Join Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Bronze in one corner.

Round 1

Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2, and 2 dc in same base st, work 1 dc in each base st across the side, in the corner work 2 dc, ch 2, and 2 dc in same base st, rep from to around the entire piece, join with sl st, fasten off.

Blanket Edging

Join Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Bronze in one corner and work across the width of the piece.

Round 1

4 sc, ch 4, skip 2 base sts, rep from to * across the side, fasten off. Work the opposite side the same way and fasten off.

Fringe

Cut 9 strands of Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Bronze, each approximately 10 in long. Fold strands in half and attach them to the loops of the edging from Diagram 6, attaching one fringe to each loop across both ends of the blanket.

Pillow Assembly

For the pillow, use 2 Motif 1 pieces and 2 Motif 2 pieces. Sew the motifs together by hand using Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in White, following the pillow assembly layout.

Pillow Border

Join Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Bronze in one corner.

Round 1

Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2, and 2 dc in same base st, work 1 dc in each base st across the side, in the corner work 2 dc, ch 2, and 2 dc in same base st, rep from to around the entire piece, join with sl st.

Continue following Diagram 7 in joined rnds, fasten off.

Pillow Back

Join Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Bronze in one corner and work along only one side of the piece.

Row 1

Ch 5, skip 2 base sts, 1 dc, ch 2, skip 2 base sts, 1 dc, rep from to across the row.

Rows 2–28

Ch 5, skip 2 base sts, 1 dc, ch 2, skip 2 base sts, 1 dc, rep from to across the row, fasten off.

Pillow Joining

Join Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Bronze 8 sts before the corner of the piece, joining the front and back pieces together.

Round 1

8 sc, in the corner work 1 sc, ch 1, and 1 sc in same base st, work 1 sc in each base st across the side while joining both pieces together, rep from to 2 more times, in the corner work 1 sc, ch 1, and 1 sc in same base st, 8 sc joining both pieces together.

Work across the pillow opening using only the front piece without joining:

ch 3, skip 3 base sts, 3 sc, rep from to * across the row, join with sl st, fasten off.

Cord

With Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 in Bronze, make a chain cord long enough to weave through the pillow opening and tie closed. Fasten off. Close the pillow cover with the cord.
