1 ball each of Anne Sparkle in 8832 and 8001 - yarn is doubled up in this project

Fish Body Instructions - worked in the round

With 8001 doubled up, start with a magic circle

Round 1: Ch 1, 4 sc in the magic circle. Place st marker in the last st to keep track of the end of every row. (4 sc)

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (8 sc)

Round 3: 1 sc in each st around. (8 sc)

Round 4: 1 sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next, repeat around. (12 sc)

Round 5: 1 sc in the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the next, repeat around. (16 sc)

Round 6: 1 sc in each st around. (16 sc)

Round 7: 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 2 sc in the next, repeat around. (20 sc)

Round 8: 1 sc in each st around. (20 sc)

Do not finish off after Row 15. You will do a round of sc evenly around the entire mouth of the fish first, before you finish off, weave in ends.

With 8001 doubled up, ch 6.

Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across, ending with 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across, ending with 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5-9: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 10: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across, ending with 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across, ending with 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across, ending with 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5-9: 1 sc in the BLO of each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Ruffle Tail Instructions

With 8001 doubled up

Row 1: Ch 16, 1 hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook and in each st across. Ch 2, turn.

Row 2: 1 hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn.

Row 3: 2 hdc in the first st, 2 hdc in the next st, 3 hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st, repeat from * to the end of the row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 4: 1 dc in the first st, ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1) in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

Row 5: 2 dc in the first st, 1 dc in the ch 1 sp, 2 dc in the next st, repeat from * across. Change to black.

Row 6: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across. Finish off, weave in ends.

Fold the piece in half and sew the seam together. Wrap the tail around the bottom of the fish and sew into place around the bottom of the fish.

Scales - Make 22

With 8001 doubled up, ch 9.

Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 hdc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st, 1 tr in the next two sts, 1 dc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st, 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: 1 sc in each st across, ending with 3 sc in the last st. Turn your work so you will be working along the foundation ch. 1 sc in each ch across, ending with a sl st in the last ch. Finish off. Weave in ends.

One by one, sew the scales onto one side of the fish, starting at the tail and working your way up. Only sew along the top of the scales to give it the overlapping effect.

Sew on your button eye and attach your strap. If you would like to crochet a strap instead of buying one, you can do that.
