- 2 balls of Amigurumi color 1112;

- 1 ball of Amigurumi color 4456;

- Black & white yarn scraps;

- Knitting needles 6 (US 6 / 4.0 mm);

- Crochet hook E-4 (US E-4 / 3.5 mm);

- 3 black buttons (0.5”) to make eyes & nose.

Gauge: 22 stitches x 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm over Pattern using needles 6.

Measurement Comparison – Sizes 2, 4, and 6 Years

Age 2

Back:

Use color 1112. Cast on 61 sts onto needles 6 and work in Pattern up to 12” and bind off.

Front:

Work as back up to 10.5” and start neckline shaping: Bind off the central stitch (1 st) and work sides separately. Bind off on the neckline side, every 2 rows: 2 sts (4 times) and 1 st (3 times). At 12” bind off remaining stitches.

Sleeves (make 2):

Use color 1112. Cast on 36 sts onto needles 6 and follow Pattern. Increase 1 stitch on each side every 12 rows (5 times). At 8.5” bind off all stitches.

Fox - Collar:

Use white color. Cast on 1 stitch onto needles 6 and work in Garter stitch.Increase 1 stitch at each edge every 2 rows (using M1L and M1R) for a total of 13 times.After working approximately 1.25” (10 rows), you will have completed 5 increases on each side (11 sts total). Switch to color 4456 and continue increasing at the same rate (every 2 rows) until you have completed all 13 increases on each side (27 sts total), which will be at about 3.25” from the cast-on edge. At 4.75” from the cast-on edge, work one decrease row by knitting every 2 stitches together across the row (k2tog across) — this reduces the stitch count from 27 to 14 sts.Begin working in 1x1 Rib. After 0.75” of Ribbing, increase 13 sts evenly across the next row to return to 27 sts. To do this: [K1, M1] across, adjusting slightly if needed to keep the ribbing pattern consistent.Continue working in the main Pattern until the piece measures 19.75” from the beginning of Pattern.Then, work another decrease row: knit 2 sts together across the entire row (k2tog across) to reduce from 27 sts to 14 sts. Make fringes at the beginning of the piece. Cut 4 strands to 1.25”.Head: Fold collar tip — see chart = dotted line and sew on the WS. Sew 1 button at tip = nose and 2 buttons for eyes as shown in the picture. Fold ears — see chart = dotted line and sew on the WS. Use black yarn to make 1 fringe into ear tip with 2 strands (0.75” each). Sew ears onto row 5 in Garter stitch of face.Sweater: Sew shoulders. Sew sleeves onto 4.75” on each side from shoulder seam. Close sides and sleeves and sew fox collar around neckline. Sew tail under face with some invisible stitches to secure it.

Back:

Use color 1112. Cast on 67 sts onto needles 6 and work in Pattern up to 13” and bind off.

Front:

Work as back up to 11” and start neckline shaping: Bind off the central stitch (1 st) and work sides separately. Bind off on the neckline side, every 2 rows: 2 sts (5 times) and 1 st (3 times). At 13” bind off remaining stitches.

Sleeves (make 2):

Use color 1112. Cast on 38 sts onto needles 6 and follow Pattern. Increase 1 stitch on each side every 12 rows (5 times). At 9.5” bind off all stitches.

Fox - Collar:

Use white color. Cast on 1 stitch onto needles 6 and work in Garter stitch.Increase 1 stitch at each edge every 2 rows (using M1L and M1R) for a total of 13 times.After working approximately 1.25” (10 rows), you will have completed 5 increases on each side (11 sts total). Switch to color 4456 and continue increasing at the same rate (every 2 rows) until you have completed all 13 increases on each side (27 sts total), which will be at about 3.25” from the cast-on edge.
