ssk: slip one stich as if to knit; slip another stitch as if to knit; insert left needle through the front strand of these two stitches and knit them together. A left-leaning decrease.

4" = 20 st × 27 rows with nr 7 needles and stockinette stitch

Execution

BODY

Cast on 94, 100, 106 (112, 118, 126) 132, 138, 144 st on longer nr 7 needles. Put a MOR marker on the needle. Cast on more 94, 100, 106 (112, 118, 126) 132, 138, 144 st. Put a BOR marker and join to knit circularly. Take care to not twist your cast on.

Knit 6 garter stitch rounds:

Round 1: k

Round 2: p

Repeat these 2 rounds twice more.

Change to stockinette st (k all rounds). When you reach 8½, 8½, 8½ (9, 9, 9) 9½, 9½, 9½ inches since CO, begin decreasing:

Round 1: k1, k2tog, k to 3 st to marker, ssk, k1, slip marker, repeat from .

Round 2: k.

Repeat these 2 rounds 4 times more. Now you have a total of 168, 180, 192 (204, 216, 232) 244, 256, 268 st.

K to 12, 12, 12 (12½, 12½, 12½) 13, 13, 13 inches since CO.

Divide for front and back:

Splitting round: BO 5 st, k to 5 st to marker, BO 5st, take off marker, repeat from

Now you’ll work in stockinette st rows.

Sew shoulders.

Armholes

With shorter nr. 7 circular needle or the longer one using magic loop, and beginning at bottom center, pick up and knit around the armhole: 1 st for each BO st, 1 st for each 2 rows of subsequent rows. Join to work in the round.

Round 2: p

Repeat these two rounds twice more (3 garter ridges total). BO.

Repeat for other armhole.

Use tapestry needle to hide ends securely.
