·         1 skein of Amigurumi yarn - Colors: #8176 (Off-White), #8008 (Rock Corey), #8990 (Black), and #1289 (Canary)

·         Amigurumi yarn leftovers - Color: #2137 (Hydrangea)

·         Crochet hook - B-1 (2.0 mm)

·         Tapestry needle #16

·         Safety eyes (8 mm) - Black

·         1.5 mm aluminum wire (optional)

·         Fiberfill

 

Abbreviations:

ch = Chain Stitch

dc = Double Crochet

dec = Decrease

inc = Increase

no ch sc = No Chain Single Crochet (Leave a yarn tail at the beginning and make a slip knot. Position the yarn tail facing you, bring this tail over the hook, hold it in place, yarn over with the working yarn and pull through both loops on the hook.)

pm = Place Marker

puff = 5-Loop Puff Stitch (Yarn over, insert the hook into the st and pull up a loop. Repeat this process 4 more times in the same st, yarn over, and pull through all 11 loops on the hook. Ch 1 to finish the st.)

Instructions:

 

Head/Body

Start with Amigurumi #8176 (Off-White).

Make 7 no ch sc.

Rnd 1: 1 inc, 5 sc, 3 sc in the last st, 5 sc on the other side, 1 inc (17)

Rnd 2: 2 inc, 5 sc, 3 inc, 5 sc, 2 inc - Note: pm on 1st sc (24)

Rnd 3: 3 sc, 1 inc to eor (30)

Rnds 4 to 11 (8 rnds): 30 sc (30)

Rnd 12: 9 sc, 3 sc in the same st, 20 sc (32)

Rnd 13: 9 sc, 3 inc, 20 sc (35)

Attach the safety eyes between rnds 6 and 7 leaving 6 visible sts between them after placing.

Rnd 14: 35 sc (35)

Rnd 15: 9 sc, (1 sc, 1 inc) 3x, 20 sc (38)

Rnd 16: 9 sc, (2 sc, 1 inc) 3x, 20 sc (41)

Rnd 17: 15 sc, 1 inc, 25 sc (42)

Change to Amigurumi #8008 (Rock Corey).

Stuff.

Rnd 33: 3 dec (3) - Stitches will be left unworked in the previous rnd.

Fasten off the remaining sts of the previous rnd together with the 3 sts of the last rnd by closing a reverse magic ring.

Using Amigurumi #2137 (Hydrangea), embroider the details on the eyes.

 

Tail

Start with Amigurumi #8008 (Rock Corey).

Attach the yarn to one of the sts of the opening on rnd 18 of the head/body and work in the rnd:

Rnds 1 to 3 (3 rnds): 12 sc - Note: pm on 1st sc (12)

Change to Amigurumi #8990 (Black).

Rnd 4: 1 sc, 1 inc to eor (18)

Fold and close the sides with: (3 dc in the same st, skip 1 st, 1 sl st) 3x.

Fasten off and hide the tail.

 

Wings (Make 2)

Start with Amigurumi #8008 (Rock Corey).

Rnd 1: 6 sc into the magic ring.

Rnd 2: 6 inc - Note: pm on 1st sc (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, 1 inc to eor (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc, 1 inc to eor (24)

Rnd 5: 24 sc (24)

Rnd 6: Fold and close the sides with 12 sc.

Change to Amigurumi #8990 (Black).

Rnd 7: (3 dc in the same st, 1 sl st) 6x.

Fasten off.

Sew between the neck and the gray part of the body, centering them with the side of the head.

 

Beak

Use Amigurumi #1289 (Canary).

Rnd 1: 6 sc into the magic ring.

Rnd 2: 6 sc - Note: pm on 1st sc (6)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, 1 inc to eor (9)

Rnds 4 and 5 (2 rnds): 9 sc (9)

Fold and close the sides, working the bottom of the beak with: 1 sl st, 3 dc in the same st, skip 1 st, 1 sl st.

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Sew between the seagull's eyes and between rnds 6 and 7 of the head.

 

Feet (Make 2)

Use Amigurumi #1289 (Canary).

Rnd 1: 6 sc into the magic ring.

Rnd 2: 6 inc - Note: pm on 1st sc (12)

Rnd 3: 12 sc (12)

Rnd 4: ch 3, skip 3 base sts, 9 sc (12)

Rnd 5: 1 sc, 1 inc to eor (18)

Rnd 6: 18 sc (18)

Rnd 7: 2 sc, 1 inc to eor (24)

Rnds 8 and 9 (2 rnds): 24 sc (24)

Fold and close the sides to form the “toes,” working the 1st and last puff sts through only 2 loops, and the other sts through the 4 loops (closing both sides).

Rnd 10: 1 puff, 5 sc, 1 puff, 5 sc, 1 puff (13)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Thread a yarn needle and bring the yarn over the foot toward the opening of rnd 4, then go under the foot back to the puff st, forming the “bones” of the 3 toes.


Legs (Make 2)

Use Amigurumi #1289 (Canary).

Attach the yarn to one of the sts of the opening on rnd 4 and work in the rnd:

Rnds 1 to 9 (9 rnds): 6 sc – Note: pm on 1st sc (6)

Insert the aluminum wire up to the foot and bend it at the heel (if the Mouette is intended for a child, omit the wire).

Sew the legs centered to the base of the body between rnds 5 and 6 (counting from the reverse magic ring).
