Acqua Bikini

Materials:

4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7) Seaside rolls (1.7 oz) – Color: 6118 (Acqua);

Círculo crochet hook – 2.5 mm; 

1 Maxxi retrós thread – Color: 563 (Caribbean);

Círculo sewing needle – No. 2;

1 pair of bra cups; 1 pair of bra clasps; Fabric for the lining; Tracing paper; Pencil Scissors; Measuring tape, Sewing machine.

Stitch Glossary & Abbreviations:

st.: stitch, sts.: stitches, diag.: diagram, ch.: chain, sl st.: slip stitch, sc.: single crochet,  dc: double crochet, BP dc.: back post double crochet, FP dc.: front post double crochet, bikini bottom: follow diag. 1 (1st to 3rd step), bralette: follow diag. 2 (1st to 5th step).

Gauge:

A 4-inch (10 cm) square in dc sc., with a 2.5 mm hook = 25 sts. x 16 rows.

Instructions:

Transfer the patterns onto tracing paper to use as a reference when making the piece. Pay attention to the arrows in the measurement diagram, which indicate the direction of the work.

Bikini bottom (1st step) Front part: Use a 2.5 mm crochet hook and the Seaside yarn in the color Acqua and start the piece with a cord of 12 (13, 14, 15, 16, 17) ch., 1st row: 3 ch., 11 (12, 13, 14, 15, 16) dc.; From the 2nd row to row 22 (23, 24, 25, 26, 26) continue following diag. 1., work in back-and-forth rows.

Back part: Join the Seaside yarn in the color Acqua to the starting cord of the front part and work following diag. 1 from the row 23 (24, 25, 26, 27, 27) to the row 48 (50, 53, 55, 59, 61). Join the sides of the piece with a strand of 50 (53, 56, 59, 62, 64) ch.

2nd step: Work the top of the bikini bottom over the row 22 (23, 24, 25, 26, 26) (front), row 48 (50, 53, 55, 59, 61) (back) and over the side cords 50 (53, 56, 59, 62, 64) ch. following diag.1 175(185, 195, 205, 215, 225) sts. per row from the row 49 (51, 54, 56, 60, 62) to the row 59 (61, 64, 66, 70,72). Work in circular rounds.

3rd step: At 3.5” (9 cm) from the sides of the front and back, join the sides of the piece with a 42 (44, 46, 48, 52, 56) ch cord; Work over the bikini bottom sts. from the row 59 (61, 64, 66, 70,72) and over the 42 (44, 46, 48, 52, 56) ch cord, following diag.1 160(168, 175, 183, 195, 208) sts. per row from the row 60 (62, 65, 67, 71, 73) to the row 66 (68, 71, 73, 77, 79). Work in circular rounds. Finish the armholes with 1 row of sc.

Lining: Cut the lining according to the measurements of the bikini bottom (1st and 2nd steps). Attach the lining to the piece using sewing needle no. 2 and Maxxi retros thread in Caribbean color with running stitches.

Bralette: Work in back-and-forth rows from the 1st to the 5th step.

Left cup (1st step): Use 2.5 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in color Acqua and start the piece with a cord of 2 ch., 1st row: 1 ch., 2 sc.; From the 2nd to the row 52 (54, 56, 58, 60, 62), continue following diag. 2.

2nd step: Work the top of the cup following diag.2 60(62, 62, 64,  66, 68) sts. per row from the row 53 (55, 57, 59, 61, 63) to the row 68 (70, 72, 74, 76, 78). Fasten off the yarn and set the piece aside.

Right cup: Same as left cup (1st and 2nd steps).

Between-the-cups (3rd step): Use 2.5 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in Acqua color and start the piece with a cord of 2 ch., 1st row: 1 ch., 2 sc.; From the row 69 (71, 73, 75, 77, 79) to the row 96 (100, 104, 108, 112, 116), continue with diag. 2.

Assembling the cups in between-the-cups: Using a 2.5 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in Acqua color, join the cups to the between-the-cups piece with 1 round of sl sts.;

Side of cups (4th step): Using a 2.5 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in Acqua color, join the yarn to the side of the cup and work along diag. 2 from the row 97 (101, 105, 109, 113, 117) to the row 164 (171, 179, 187, 196, 206).

Strap (5th step): Using a 2.5 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in Acqua color, join the yarn on the upper side of the cup and work along diag. 2 from the row 165 (172, 180, 188, 197, 207) to the row 295 (309, 324, 340, 360, 381).

Lining: Using sewing needle no. 2 and Maxxi retros thread in Caribbean color, sew the bra clasp at the end of the side bands. Sew the bra cups to the back of the crochet cup on the sewing machine using Caribbean Maxxi retro thread.
