Coral Hot Pant Bikini

Level of difficulty




Sizes: S (M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL)

 

Materials:

•    7 (7, 8, 8, 9, 9) balls of worsted weight yarn, 165 m / 180.4 yds each - Color: Orange

•    Size C-2 (2.5 mm) crochet hook

•    Tapestry needle

•    2 pre-made bra cups

•    Fabric for lining


Gauge: 32 stitches and 16 rows = 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) in pattern stitch with size C-2 (2.5 mm) hook. Always work a gauge swatch and adjust hook size if necessary to achieve correct gauge.


Abbreviations:

•    ch = chain

•    sc = single crochet

•    dc = double crochet

•    st(s) = stitch(es)

•    inc = increase

•    dec = decrease

•    yo = yarn over


Special Stitches:

•    Pattern Stitch: See attached chart

•    Edging Stitch: See attached chart


Instructions


Bikini Bottom - Front Panel

1.    Foundation: Ch 8 (10, 12, 14, 16, 16).

2.    Setup Row: Work as follows:

•    First 6 sts in edging stitch (counting foundation ch as first st)

•    Center sts in pattern stitch following front chart (mirror pattern from center as indicated by arrow)

•    Last 6 sts in edging stitch

3.    Continue: Work edging along full height as shown in chart until front panel is complete. Fasten off.

4.    Side Panels: Working along each side edge after leg opening increases:

•    Row 1: Work 6 edging sts, then 50 (53, 56, 59, 62, 66) dc, end with 6 edging sts

•    Continue in established pattern for 13 (14, 14, 15, 17, 18) rows total

•    Fasten off


Bikini Bottom - Back Panel

1.    Foundation: Ch 8 (10, 12, 14, 16, 16) (same as front).

2.    Work back panel following back chart, maintaining 6 edging sts on each side as established for front.

3.    Side Panels: Work same as front side panels but for 11 (12, 13, 14, 15, 17) rows total.

4.    Fasten off.


Bikini Top - Cups (Make 2)

1.    Foundation: Ch 7 (8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

2.    Setup Row: Work as follows:

•    First 6 sts in edging stitch (counting foundation ch as first st)

•    Center sts following cup chart

•    Last 6 sts in edging stitch

3.    Continue: Work edging along full side as shown in chart until cup is complete. Fasten off.

4.    Make second cup identical to first.


Assembly and Finishing


Bikini Bottom Assembly

1.    Side Seams: Sew side panels to front and back panels, gently easing fabric to fit.

2.    Leg Openings: Work 1 round of sc around each leg opening. Join with sl st, fasten off.

3.    Waistband: Work edging around entire waistband following waistband chart. Fasten off.

4.    Lining: Attach fabric lining to inside of bikini bottom.


Bikini Top Assembly

1.    Center Seam: Sew cups together at narrowest point (center front).

2.    Underband: Work 6 rows of sc along bottom edge of both cups. Fasten off.

3.    Side Panels: Starting from underband on each side:

•    Row 1: Work 6 edging sts, 13 (13, 15, 15, 17, 17) dc, 6 edging sts

•    Continue in pattern for 12 (13, 14, 15, 16, 17) rows

4.    Shaping: After row 12 (13, 14, 15, 16, 17), begin decreasing:

•    Dec 1 st on each side (6 sts in from edges) every row for 6 (6, 7, 7, 8, 8) rows

•    Dec final dc st

•    12 sts remain (edging sts only)

5.    Back Band: Continue with remaining 12 sts in edging pattern for 10 (11, 12, 13, 14, 15) rows.

6.    Back Closure: Work strap pattern in center of 12 sts following strap chart (Part 2) for 14 rows. Fasten off.

7.    Repeat steps 3-6 for other side.

8.    Top Edge: Work edging around top edge of cups following top edge chart. Fasten off.


Straps (Make 2)

1.    Attachment: Attach yarn 2 cm (0.8") from inner edge of cup (see diagram).

2.    Strap Construction:

•    Part 1: Work strap pattern repeating chart section for 13 (14, 15, 16, 17, 18) cm / 5 (5.5, 6, 6.25, 6.75, 7)"

•    Part 2: Continue strap pattern for additional 20 (21, 23, 24, 26, 27) cm / 7.75 (8.25, 9, 9.5, 10.25, 10.75)"

3.    Fasten off.

4.    Make second strap identical to first.


Final Assembly

1.    Cup Lining: Sew pre-made cups inside crocheted cups for support and coverage.

2.    Adjustments: Try on and make any necessary adjustments to strap length or side seams.


Finishing Notes

•    All measurements in inches are rounded to nearest quarter inch

•    Pattern stitch charts are attached separately

•    For best fit, try on frequently during construction and adjust as needed
