Finished measurements (garment measurements):

 • Chest circumference: 33 (37, 41, 45, 48.75, 52.75) in / 84 (94, 104, 114, 124, 134) cm.

Note: This garment is designed to be worn with little to no ease. Choose your size based on your actual chest measurement.


Materials:

  • Veluna by Círculo (100 g / 350 m per skein): 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 5) skeins – Color 5082 (Fortune);

  • US 2.5 (3.0 mm) and US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needles, 32 in (80 cm) cable;

  • Círculo cable needle;

  • Círculo tapestry needle;

  • Tracing paper;

  • Pencil;

  • Scissors;

  • Measuring tape.


Abbreviations:

approx.: approximately,

inc: increase,

dec: decrease,

R: right,

L: left, 

k: knit,

st: stitch,

sts.: stitches,

rep: repetition or repetitions,

BO: bind off,

Knitting stitches used:

2x2 rib: follow chart 1,

stockinette stitch: follow chart 2,

pattern stitch: follow chart 3.

 

Gauge: a 4 in / 10 cm square in stockinette stitch (chart 2) using a US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needle = 16 sts x 24 rows.


Instructions


Transfer the templates to the tracing paper to use as a reference while working the piece. Observe the arrows on the measurement diagram indicating the direction of the work. The garment is worked flat in separate pieces from the bottom up and seamed.


Back: Using Veluna yarn in the color Fortune, cast on 60 (68, 76, 84, 92, 100) sts with a US 2.5 (3.0 mm) circular needle. Begin the piece from the lower edge in 2x2 rib, following chart 1 and the repeat stitches, for 3.5 in / 9 cm. On the last row of the 2x2 rib, inc. 8 sts evenly, for a total of 68 (76, 84, 92, 100, 108) sts. On the next row, switch to the US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needle and continue in stockinette stitch, following chart 2 and the repeat sts.


At 12.25 (12.25, 12.25, 11.75, 11.75, 11.75) in / 31 (31, 31, 30, 30, 30) cm in length, begin the armholes by dec on each side:

S: 6 sts (1 x)

M: 6 sts (1 x), then 3 sts (1 x)

L: 6 sts (2 x)

XL: 6 sts (2 x), then 3 sts (1 x)

2XL: 6 sts (3 x)

3XL: 6 sts (3 x), then 3 sts (1 x)

Leaving a total of 56 (58, 60, 62, 64, 66) sts.


At 16.25 (16.5, 17, 17, 17.75, 18) in / 41 (42, 43, 43, 45, 46) cm in length, work as follows: 4 sts (all sizes) (chart 2), 48 (50, 52, 54, 56, 58) sts (chart 3), and 4 sts (all sizes) (chart 2).

At 19.25 (19.75, 20, 20, 20.75, 21.25) in / 49 (50, 51, 51, 53, 54) cm in length, bind off all sts and set the piece aside.


Front: Using Veluna yarn in the color Fortune, cast on 60 (68, 76, 84, 92, 100) sts with a US 2.5 (3.0 mm) circular needle. Begin the piece from the lower edge in 2x2 rib, following chart 1 and the repeat stitches, for 3.5 in / 9 cm. On the last row of the 2x2 rib, inc. 8 sts evenly, for a total of 68 (76, 84, 92, 100, 108) sts. At 16.25 (16.5, 17, 17, 17.75, 18) in / 41 (42, 43, 43, 45, 46) cm in length, work as follows: 4 sts (all sizes) (chart 2), 15 (15, 15, 16, 17, 18) sts (chart 3), 18 (20, 22, 22, 22, 22) sts (chart 2), 15 (15, 15, 16, 17, 18) sts (chart 3), 4 sts (all sizes) (chart 2).


At 17.75 (18, 18.5, 18.5, 19.25, 19.75) in / 45 (46, 47, 47, 49, 50) cm in length, begin the neckline by binding off the 18 (20, 22, 22, 22, 22) center sts and working over the remaining 19 (19, 19, 20, 21, 22) sts on each side. Continue each side separately, knitting in charts 2 and 3.


At 19.25 (19.75, 20, 20, 20.75, 21.25) in / 49 (50, 51, 51, 53, 54) cm in length, bind off each shoulder 19 (19, 19, 20, 21, 22) sts and set the piece aside.


Sleeve: Using Veluna yarn in the color Fortune, cast on 40 (40, 44, 48, 48, 52) sts with a US 2.5 (3.0 mm) circular needle. Begin the piece from the cuff in 2x2 rib, following chart 1 and the repeat stitches, for 4 in / 10 cm. On the last row of the 2x2 rib, inc. 18 (20, 18, 20, 28, 30) sts evenly, for a total of 58 (60, 62, 68, 76, 82) sts. On the next row, switch to the US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needle and continue in stockinette stitch, following chart 2 and the repeat sts.


At 9 (9, 9.5, 9.5, 9.75, 9.75) in / 23 (23, 24, 24, 25, 25) cm in length, shape the sleeve cap by decreasing on each side every 2 rows as follows:

S: 8 sts once, then 1 st (12 x)

M: 8 sts once, then 1 st (13 x)

L: 8 sts once, then 1 st (14 x)

XL: 8 sts once, then 1 st (16 x)

2XL: 8 sts once, then 1 st (20 x)

3XL: 8 sts once, then 1 st (22 x)


At 15 (15.75, 16.5, 16.5, 18, 18) in / 38 (40, 42, 42, 46, 46) cm from the beginning, bind off the remaining 18 (18, 18, 20, 20, 22) sts on the needle. Make the second sleeve the same way and set both aside.


Assembly and finishing: Using the tapestry needle and Veluna yarn in the color Fortune, sew the left shoulder 4.75 (4.75, 4.75, 5, 5, 5.5) in / 12 (12, 12, 13, 13, 14) cm, leaving the right shoulder open to make it easier to work the neckline.


Neckline: Pick up 72 (86, 92, 92, 92, 92) sts around the neckline with a US 2.5 (3.0 mm) circular needle and work in 2x2 rib, following chart 1 and the repeat sts, for 1.25 in / 3 cm. Bind off all sts, leaving a yarn tail of approx. 8 in (20 cm).


Thread this tail onto the tapestry needle and sew the neckline 1.25 in / 3 cm and the right shoulder 4.75 (4.75, 4.75, 5, 5, 5.5) in / 12 (12, 12, 13, 13, 14) cm closed.


Sew the side seams 12.25 (12.25, 12.25, 11.75, 11.75, 11.75) in / 31 (31, 31, 30, 30, 30) cm, leaving the armhole opening 7 (7.5, 7.75, 8.25, 9, 9.5) in / 18 (19, 20, 21, 23, 24) cm.


Sew the sleeves 9 (9, 9.5, 9.5, 9.75, 9.75) in / 23 (23, 24, 24, 25, 25) cm and attach them around the armholes.
