Execution
Table Centerpiece: with Natural Cotton 4/6 yarn, start with a mr.
Row 1: start with 4 ch, 2 dtr closed together, 3 ch, * 3 dtr closed together, 3 ch; * repeat from * to * 8 x, close with sl st,
Row 2: work 1 sl st to move, then over the base ch, start with 3 ch, 3 dc in the same base space, 2 ch, skip 1 base st, * work 4 dc in the next base space, 2 ch, skip 1 base st; * repeat from * to * 8 x.
Row 3: work 3 sl st to reach the 2 base ch, over the ch start with 3 ch, 3 dc in the same base space, 2 ch, skip 4 base sts, * work 4 dc in the next base space, 2 ch, skip 4 base sts; * repeat from * to * 8 x, close with sl st, fasten off.
Row 4: join Encanto yarn, * work 3 sc over the 2 base ch in the same base space, 4 sc; * repeat from * to * 8 x, close with sl st, fasten off. Row 5: join Natural Cotton 4/6 yarn on the 2nd sc of the base row, * start with 1 sc, 8 ch, skip 6 base sts; * repeat from * to * 9 x. Continue following Diagram 1, working in rounds up to Row 10, leaving the Natural Cotton 4/6 yarn at the back of the piece.
Row 11 – Sl st embroidery: join Encanto yarn over the 1st stitch of Row 5, working only over the dc, follow Diagram 1. Hold the yarn at the back of the piece, insert the hook between the base st, yarn over from underneath and pull it to the top, leaving a loop on the hook. Insert the hook into the next base st, yo and pull to the top; pass the same yarn through the reserved loop on the hook, forming a new loop. Rep until reaching the last dc of the repeat, for a total of 7 sl st, fasten off. Work the same way over all 10 dc repeats, joining over the 1st dc of each repeat and fastening off over the last dc, without working over the ch.
Row 12: continue with Natural Cotton 4/6 yarn, working over Row 10, leaving the sl st embroidery on the front of the piece. Start with 3 ch, 1 dc in the same base st, 5 dc, 2 dc in the same base st, 4 ch, skip 5 base sts, * 2 dc in the same base st, 5 dc, 2 dc in the same base st, 4 ch, skip 5 base sts; * repeat from * to * 8 x, close with sl st.
Row 13: start with 3 ch, 2 dc in the same base st, 4 dc, over the last dc work 1 pattern st – popcorn with ch (follow Diagram 1), over the base row work 3 dc, 3 dc in the same base st, 2 ch, skip 4 base sts, * 3 dc in the same base st, 4 dc, over the last dc work 1 pattern st – popcorn with ch (follow Diagram 1), over the base row work 3 dc, 3 dc in the same base st, 2 ch, skip 4 base sts; * repeat from * to * 8 x, close with sl st. Continue following Diagram 1, working in rounds, making color changes as indicated, fasten off.
