Materials
• Alpaya: 4 (5, 6, 6, 6, 7) skeins, color 8899 (Storm).
• Knitting needles: Círculo size 6.5 mm (US 10½) and 7.0 mm (US 10¾).
• Circular needle: Círculo size 6.5 mm (US 10½) with a 60 cm / 24 in cable.
• 3 stitch holders: Círculo.
• Tracing paper: for the pattern pieces.
Stitches and Techniques
Stockinette Stitch: Knit on right-side rows, purl on wrong-side rows.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch: Purl on right-side rows, knit on wrong-side rows.
K1, Slip 1, Pass Slipped Stitch Over: Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit the next stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.
1x1 Ribbing: Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1.
Pattern Stitch: Multiple of 6 stitches, plus 1 stitch.
Rows 1 and 3: Knit 4, purl 2, knit 4, purl 2, knit 1.
Row 2 and all wrong-side rows: Purl.
Rows 5 and 7: Knit 1, purl 2, knit 1, knit 3, purl 2, knit 1, knit 3.
Row 9: Repeat from Row 1.
Gauge
One 10 cm / 4 in square in Pattern Stitch following the chart or written instructions, using size 7.0 mm (US 10¾) needles = 17 stitches × 18 rows.
Instructions
Transfer the pattern pieces to tracing paper to use as a reference while making the garment.
Front and Back
The Front and Back are worked the same.
With Alpaya in color Storm, cast on 73 (85, 91, 103, 109, 115) stitches using size 6.5 mm (US 10½) needles and work in 1x1 Ribbing.
At 2.75 in / 7 cm from the beginning of the Ribbing, change to size 7.0 mm (US 10¾) needles and work in Pattern Stitch, following the chart.
At 13.75 (13.75, 14.25, 14.25, 14.25, 14.25) in / 35 (35, 36, 36, 36, 36) cm from the beginning of the Pattern Stitch, begin the armholes. Bind off on each side, before the 8 stitches at each edge, as follows:
Every 2 rows, bind off 2 stitches 4 (6, 8, 12, 13, 16) times, then 1 stitch 14 (14, 12, 9, 9, 7) times.
Work the armhole edges as follows:
Right Edge: Knit 2, work a K1, Slip 1, Pass Slipped Stitch Over decrease, yarn over, knit 1, work a K1, Slip 1, Pass Slipped Stitch Over decrease, yarn over, knit 1, then work the remaining armhole stitches.
Left Edge: Work the remaining armhole stitches, knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 2.
After the decreases, 29 (33, 35, 37, 39, 37) stitches remain on the needle.
Continue without decreasing until 21.75 (22.5, 23.25, 23.5, 24.5, 24.75) in / 55 (57, 59, 60, 62, 63) cm, then bind off and place the stitches on a holder.
Sleeves
With Alpaya in color Storm, cast on 49 (55, 61, 73, 79, 85) stitches using size 6.5 mm (US 10½) needles and work in 1x1 Ribbing.
At 0.75 in / 2 cm from the beginning of the Ribbing, change to size 7.0 mm (US 10¾) needles and work in Pattern Stitch, following the chart.
At 6.75 (6.25, 6.25, 5.5, 4.75, 4.75) in / 17 (16, 16, 14, 12, 12) cm from the beginning of the Pattern Stitch, begin the armhole shaping. Bind off on each side, before the 8 stitches at each edge, as follows:
Every 2 rows, bind off 2 stitches 9 (11, 12, 15, 16, 18) times, then every 4 rows, bind off 1 stitch 4 (4, 4, 3, 3, 3) times.
Work the armhole edges as follows:
Right Edge: Knit 2, work a K1, Slip 1, Pass Slipped Stitch Over decrease, yarn over, knit 1, work a K1, Slip 1, Pass Slipped Stitch Over decrease, yarn over, knit 1, then work the remaining armhole stitches
Left Edge: Work the remaining armhole stitches, knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 2.
After the decreases, 5 (3, 5, 7, 9, 7) stitches remain on the needle.
Note: The end of the sleeve is very narrow, and the edge stitches are worked during the decreases but do not remain through the end. The Pattern Stitch is also not worked throughout the final rows.
Continue without decreasing until 14.5 (15, 15.25, 15, 15, 15.25) in / 37 (38, 39, 38, 38, 39) cm, then bind off and place the stitches on a holder.
Make the other sleeve the same way.
Finishing
Transfer the stitches from the stitch holders to the circular needle in the following order: Back, one sleeve, Front, the other sleeve.
With Alpaya in color Storm, work in 1x1 Ribbing.
At 1.25 in / 3 cm from the transferred stitches, bind off.
Sew the armholes. Sew the sleeves and side seams.
