Materials: Alpaccino – 4 skeins of 9277 (Sunset Petals). Círculo circular knitting needle US 7 (4.5 mm) with an 31.5 in (80 cm) cable. Tracing paper – for the template.
Stitches Used and Abbreviations: The indications in ( ) are the abbreviations used in the pattern. Needle (needle), Stitch (st), Row (row), Bind off (BO), Knit: (k), Purl (p), Decrease (dec), Yarn over (yo), Skein (skein), Knit (knit), Times (x). Stockinette Stitch: knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side. Garter Stitch: knit all rows (right side and wrong side). Picot: 1 edge st, 1 yo, k2tog, 1 edge st. Picot: knit 1 st from the left needle, without dropping the st from the left needle, return the knitted st from the right needle to the left needle, knit 1 st into the returned st without dropping it, return the st from the right needle to the left needle, knit 1 st into the returned st without dropping it; there are 3 sts on the left needle. Then knit 2 sts, pass the 1st knitted st over the 2nd st, knit the next st, leaving 2 sts on the right needle, pass the 1st st over the knitted st, leaving 1 st on the right needle, then bind off 2 sts (*knit the 1st st from the left needle and pass the st on the right needle over the knitted st*; repeat from to twice), leaving 1 st on the right needle. Return the st from the right needle to the left needle and start again at * of the picot. Pattern Stitch: 19 rows in garter stitch, 1 row in eyelet stitch.
Gauge – A 3.9 in (10 cm) square in pattern stitch following the pattern, using US 7 (4.5 mm) needles = 18 sts x 22 rows.
Instructions: Transfer the templates onto tracing paper to use as a reference when making the piece. The shawl is worked from the tip. Using Alpaccino yarn in Sunset Petals, cast on 2 sts on US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles and work in pattern stitch following the pattern. After the 3rd row, increase 1 st at the right edge every 2 rows (158 x). After completing the increases, there are 160 sts on the needle. At this point, bind off the sts using the picot bind-off, following the pattern.
