Sizes: S-2XL

 

This fitted tank is worked flat in two panels and finished with circular trims. All instructions are written out separately by size for clarity. The pattern uses moss stitch for the body and stockinette for trims.

 Materials (all sizes)

- Círculo Merino Sweet (136 yds/50 g): see size chart for number of hanks

- US 7 (4.5 mm) straight knitting needles

- US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needles, 24" cable

- Tapestry needle, stitch markers (optional)


Gauge: 22 sts and 26 rows = 4" (10 cm) in moss stitch using US 7 needles.


Abbreviations

k – knit

p – purl

RS – right side

WS – wrong side

BO – bind off

CO – cast on

k2tog – knit 2 together


Stitches used:

  • Stockinette: k on the right side, p on the wrong side.

  • Moss stitch: 1st row: k1, p1. 2nd and all even rows: follow the stitch pattern from the previous row. 3rd row: p1, k1. 5th row: repeat 1st row.


Notes: all pieces are worked flat from the bottom up. Armhole and neckline shaping are done with simple bind-offs and decreases. The neckline and armholes are finished in the round with stockinette trim.


Size S


Back CO 76 sts with US 7 needles. Work 1¼″ in stockinette stitch. Switch to moss stitch and continue until piece measures 11.50″ (ending just before armhole shaping).

Shape armholes: - BO 3 sts at each end of next 2 rows - BO 2 sts at each end of following 2 rows - k2tog at each end of next 4 RS rows Continue in moss stitch until total length is 18.5″. BO all sts.


Front Work as for back until length is 17.50″.

Shape neckline: - BO center 14 sts - Working both sides separately, BO at neck edge: 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st once Continue until piece matches back in length. BO all sts.


Finishing - Seam shoulders and sides - With US 6 circular needles, pick up and knit approx. 90 sts around neckline. Work 1¼″ in

stockinette stitch. BO all sts. - Pick up and knit approx. 100 sts around each armhole. Work 1¼″ in stockinette. BO all sts.


Size M


Back CO 82 sts with US 7 needles. Work 1¼″ in stockinette stitch. Switch to moss stitch and continue until piece measures 11.75″ (ending just before armhole shaping).

Shape armholes: - BO 3 sts at each end of next 2 rows - BO 2 sts at each end of following 2 rows - k2tog at each end of next 4 RS rows Continue in moss stitch until total length is 18.75″. BO all sts.


Front Work as for back until length is 17.75″.

Shape neckline: - BO center 14 sts - Working both sides separately, BO at neck edge: 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st once Continue until piece matches back in length. BO all sts.

Back CO 92 sts with US 7 needles. Work 1¼″ in stockinette stitch. Switch to moss stitch and continue until piece measures 12.00″ (ending just before armhole shaping).

Shape armholes: - BO 3 sts at each end of next 2 rows - BO 2 sts at each end of following 2 rows - k2tog at each end of next 4 RS rows Continue in moss stitch until total length is 19″. BO all sts.


Front Work as for back until length is 18.00″.

Shape neckline: - BO center 14 sts - Working both sides separately, BO at neck edge: 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st once Continue until piece matches back in length. BO all sts.


Finishing - Seam shoulders and sides - With US 6 circular needles, pick up and knit approx. 90 sts around neckline. Work 1¼″ in stockinette stitch. BO all sts. - Pick up and knit approx. 100 sts around each armhole. Work 1¼″ in stockinette. BO all sts.


Size XL


Back CO 102 sts with US 7 needles. Work 1¼″ in stockinette stitch. Switch to moss stitch and continue until piece measures 12.25″ (ending just before armhole shaping).

Shape armholes: - BO 3 sts at each end of next 2 rows - BO 2 sts at each end of following 2 rows - k2tog at each end of next 4 RS rows Continue in moss stitch until total length is 19.25″. BO all sts.


Front Work as for back until length is 18.25″.

Shape neckline: - BO center 14 sts - Working both sides separately, BO at neck edge: 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st once Continue until piece matches back in length. BO all sts.


Finishing - Seam shoulders and sides - With US 6 circular needles, pick up and knit approx. 90 sts around neckline. Work 1¼″ in stockinette stitch. BO all sts. - Pick up and knit approx. 100 sts around each armhole. Work 1¼″ in stockinette. BO all sts.


Size 2XL


Back CO 112 sts with US 7 needles. Work 1¼″ in stockinette stitch. Switch to moss stitch and continue until piece measures 12.50″ (ending just before armhole shaping).
