Materials
SUGGESTED NEEDLE:
Círculo knitting needle US 10.5 / 6.5 mm or size needed to achieve gauge.
Círculo circular knitting needle 40 in / 100 cm, US 1 0.5 / 6.5 mm.
Círculo Bamboo Eco knitting needle US 19 / 15 mm.
YARDAGE:
2, (3, 3, 4), 4 and 4 Círculo Merino Sweet (328 yds / 300 m, 3.52 oz / 100 g), sample in color 20 – Natural.
1, (1, 1, 1), 1 and 1 Círculo Merino Sweet (328 yds / 300 m, 3.52 oz / 100 g), sample in color 9015 – Amaranth.
NOTIONS:
· Measuring Tape.
· Tapestry needle.
· Scissors.
STITCHES USED:
Stockinette Stitch (st st):
Row 1 (RS): [k].
Row 2 (WS): [p].
2/2 Rib Stitch (2/2 rib sts):
All the rows: [p2, k2].
GAUGE: 10 sts x 16 rows. = 4 x 4 in / 10 x 10 cm in st st flat.
ABBREVIATIONS:
r.: row, st(s).: stitch(es), k.: knit, p.: purl, RS: right side, WS: wrong side, [...].: repetition, CO.: cast on, BOR.: begining of the round. MC.: main color (20). CC.: contrast color (9015).
Execution
BACK
With smaller needles and MC, CO 64, (68, 72, 80), 84, 88 sts.
Work in 2/2 ribbing for 1.2 in / 3 cm. On the next row, continue in st st.
When you reach 17.75, (17.7, 18.9, 18.9), 19.7, 20.5 in / 45, (45, 48, 48), 50, 52 cm from the CO edge, BO all the sts.
RIGHT FRONT
With smaller needles and MC, CO 32, (32, 36, 40), 40, 44 sts.
Work in 2/2 ribbing for 1.2 in / 3 cm. On the next row, continue in st st.
When you reach 9.7, (9.7, 11, 11), 11.7, 12.5 in / 25, (25, 28, 28), 30, 32 cm from the CO edge, start the neckline by BO 1 st from the right side of the piece every 4 rows (6 times).
When you reach 17.7, (17.7, 18.9, 18.9), 19.7, 20.5 in / 45, (45, 48, 48), 50, 52 cm from the CO edge, BO all the sts.
LEFT FRONT
Same as the right front, but decreasing on the left side.
SLEEVES
With smaller needles and MC, CO 32, (32, 36, 40), 40, 44 sts.
Work in 2/2 ribbing for 2.7 in / 7 cm. On the next row, distribute 12 increases, you must have 44, (44, 48, 52), 52, 56 sts total.
When you reach 16.5 in / 42 cm from the CO edge, BO all the sts.
Make the other sleeve the same.
ASSEMBLING
Join the shoulders, open the piece flat, align the middle of the sleeves with the shoulder seam, and sew them to the body of the cardigan. Repeat on the other side. Close the sides and underarms.
FRONT BAND
With circular needles, MC, and facing your RS, pick up and knit around 140, (140, 148, 148), 156, 156 sts starting at the lower part of the right front 55, (54, 57, 58), 58, 58 sts going across the back neckline 30, (32, 34, 32), 36, 42 sts and finishing at the left front 55, (54, 57, 58), 58, 58 sts.
Work in 2/2 ribbing for 1.2 in / 3 cm.
BO all the sts very loosely.
FLOWERS
1) To make the flower and the flower center: with the larger needle, make 30 wraps around the needle, or 1.2 in / 3 cm.
2) Cut a piece of yarn approximately 5.9 in / 30 cm, thread it onto the tapestry needle. Pass the tapestry needle through the 30 loops on the knitting needle and secure them with two knots. Repeat this 4 times, with a 0.4 in / 1 cm of distance between each petal.
3) To form the flower cut a piece of yarn approximately 9.8 in / 25 cm, tight the petals passing the yarn embrassing all of the petals together secure them with a knot. In the center of the flower, attach 1 flower center with basting stitches.
Make 17 more. Sew the flower to the cardigan with basting stitches following the diagram.
FINISHING
Weave in all your ends, wet block and lay flat to dry.
