Materials
• 6 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) skeins of Veluna – Color: 6013 (Distant Paradise);
• Círculo knitting needle – size 4.5 mm.
Gauge: a 4-inch (10 cm) square square in pattern stitch following the chart with 4.5 mm needles = 19 stitches x 26 rows.
Stitches used:
• 2/2 Rib Stitch: Knit 2, Purl 2, repeat from to .
• Stockinette Stitch: Knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side.
• Reverse Stockinette Stitch: Purl on the right side, knit on the wrong side.
Pattern stitch: follow the chart.
Execution
Front and Back – They are identical. Cast on 84 (90, 96, 102, 108, 114) stitches with 4.5 mm needles and work in 2/2 rib stitch.
At 2.4 inches / 6 cm from the beginning, increase 1 stitch on the first row and work in the pattern stitch following the chart.
At 22.8 (23.6, 24.4, 25.2, 26, 26.8) inches / 58 (60, 62, 64, 66, 68) cm from the beginning, decrease 1 stitch on the first row and switch back to 2/2 rib stitch.
At 23.6 (24.4, 25.2, 26, 26.8, 27.6) inches / 60 (62, 64, 66, 68, 70) cm from the beginning, fasten off.
Sleeves – Cast on 78 (80, 84, 86, 88, 92) stitches with 4.5 mm needles and work in 2/2 rib stitch.
At 2 inches / 5 cm from the beginning, increase 0 (1, 0, 1, 2, 1) stitch on the first row and switch to pattern stitch following the chart.
At 11.8 (11.8, 12.2, 12.2, 12.6, 12.6) inches / 30 (30, 31, 31, 32, 32) cm from the beginning, bind off the 2 central stitches and complete each side separately.
At 18.2 (18.2, 18.6, 18.6, 18.8, 18.8) inches / 46 (46, 47, 47, 48, 48) cm from the beginning, fasten off.
Tie – Cast on 7 stitches with 4.5 mm needles and work 3 rows in knit stitch, 3 rows in reverse stockinette stitch. Repeat from to until reaching 22 inches / 56 cm, then fasten off.
Make 2 identical strips.
Finishing - Sew the front and back pieces together for 15 (15, 15.4, 15.8, 16.2, 16.6) inches / 38 (38, 39, 40, 41, 42) cm measured from the beginning, leaving 7.8 (8.6, 9, 9.4, 9.8, 10.2) inches / 20 (22, 23, 24, 25, 26) cm for the armholes.
With 4.5 mm needles, pick up 88 stitches along both sides of the opening of each sleeve.
Sew the tie strips, placing one strip on each side of the opening at the end of one sleeve (see red point on the pattern).
Sew the sleeves to the armholes. On the sleeve with the strips, do not sew the shoulder. Instead, tie the two strips into a bow. On the other sleeve, sew 1.2 (2, 3.2, 4, 4.8, 5.6) inches / 3 (5, 8, 10, 12, 14) cm of the shoulder to the body of the sweater.
