Size: One size
Materials:
Círculo – Merino Sweet – 1 hank 4095 (Rum), 1 hank 8336 (Lead).
Círculo knitting needles – 3.5 mm and 4.0 mm.
Pompom maker kit– 9 cm piece.
Círculo needle– tapestry needle no. 13.
Stitches used: 1x1 rib: k1, p1, k1. Stockinette: k on the right side, p on the wrong side. Pompom: follow the instructions on the package. Colorwork: follow the chart, crossing the yarns and catching your floats on the wrong side to avoid holes.
Gauge: 4 x 4 in square in the jacquard pattern following the chart, with 5.0 mm needles = 27 sts x 27 rows.
Instructions
Start at the bottom. With the yarn in the color Rum, cast-on 108 stitches using 4 mm needles and knit in 1x1 rib until it measures 2 in from the cast-on edge. Switch to 5 mm needles and work in the colorwork pattern, following the chart. When the work measures 9 in from the cast-on edge, work in stockinette with the color Lead as follows: 1st row (RS)- k2tog until end of row (54 sts left); 2nd row (WS)- p all sts; 3rd row (RS): k2tog until end of row (27 sts left); 4th row (WS): p all sts; 5th row (RS)- k2tog until 1 st left, k last stitch (14 sts left); 6th row (WS): p all sts. Then, slip all sts into a strand of yarn and tie them together. Cut the yarn, leaving a tail long enough for seaming. Make a pompom in the color Lead, following the kit instructions with the 9 cm piece; even it out by cutting the longer strands.
Finishing: seam the side of the beanie with mattress stitch; weave in all loose ends and
secure the pompom at the top of the beanie.
