  • Seaside Coverup Crochet Pattern

07/01/2025 Level of difficulty Size: S - 5XL (see sizing information below) Materials: Circulo Seaside Yarn in colors 8001, 5583, 3318, 613, 618, 616 - 2 to 3 balls of each color depending on what colors you use and what size you are making. F/5 - 3.75mm crochet hook Scissors Yarn needle Stitch markers   Abbreviations: Ch - chain Sl st - slip stitch Sc - single crochet Dc - double crochet Sp - space This dress is worked by making the bottom flower part first and then working your way up on the stripes. It will be a large rectangle that you then whip stitch together and you can either have your seam up the back or have it along the side of your body. Then you add the tie straps. The intended fit for this cover up is to have a fitted/snug look. Keep in mind this yarn is very stretchy. Sizing: This dress can essentially be made in any size! It is all based around how big you make your beginning strip of flowers. I recommend adding 2 flower squares for each size you want to go up. So for size small, make 11 square, for size medium, make 13 squares, and so on. You can make this dress as long as you would like -  just keep repeating the stripe pattern until you have your desired length. Flower Square Instructions **Once you have your first square made, you can use a joining method that joins the squares as you go. The other option is to make all of your squares and then whip stitch them together. With flower center color of choice, ch 5, join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring. Round 1: Ch 2, 16 dc in the ring. Join with a sl st to the first dc. Finish off color. Join white yarn in the same st. Round 2: Ch 12, sl st back into the same st, sl st into the next st, ch 12, sl st in the same st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to the base of the first petal. Finish off white. Join pink in any petal around. (16 petals) Round 3: Ch 1, 1 sc in the same st. Ch 3, 1 sc in the next petal, repeat from * around, ending with a ch 1, 1 dc into the first sc. Round 4: Ch 5, 1 sc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 10, 1 sc in the next ch 3 sp, * (ch 5, 1 sc in the next ch 3 sp) three times,* repeat from around stopping at * once you finish your final corner. End with a ch 3, 1 sc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 3, 1 sl st into the first sc. Finish off. Once you have all of your squares completed, attach all of the squares together to make one long strip. *Now we will work on the bottom border. With pink, attach to the corner (ch 10 sp) of the right side  of the strip you just made. Row 1: Ch 3, 3 dc in the ch 10 sp, 3 dc in each of the next three ch 5 sps, 3 dc in the ch 10 sp, repeat from * all the way across. Turn. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in the next st and in each st across, placing the last dc in top of the turning ch. Finish off pink. Join green in the same st. Ch 3, turn. Row 3: Sk 1 st (same st as turning ch), 1 dc in the next st, 1 dc back into the skipped st, sk 1 st, 1 dc in the next st, 1 dc back into the skipped st, repeat from * across, ending with 1 dc in the top of the turning ch. Finish off green. *Now we are going to start working along the other side of the strip and work up the dress. With pink, attach to the corner (ch 10 sp) of the right side  of the strip. Join yellow in the same st. Ch 3, turn. Row 3 - 7: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in the next st and in each st across, placing the last dc in top of the turning ch. Turn. Change color to white. Row 8: Ch 3, 1 dc in the same st, sk 2, 3 dc in the next st, repeat from * across ending with 2 dc in the top of the turning ch. Turn. Row 9-12: Ch 2, 1 dc in same st, 3 dc in the next sp between the dc clusters, repeat from * across ending with 1 dc in the top of the beginning ch 3. Turn. Finish off white, change color to orange. Row 13-16: Ch 3, 1 dc in the first st and in each st across. Turn. Finish off orange, change to white. Repeat Row 8-12 with white, then change to your next color. The pattern repeat is the 5 rows of white (the granny square stitch), and then rows of color (dc stitches) that you will alternate by doing rows of 4 and 5 every other time you do a row of color. Keep repeating the sequence until you reach your desired length. For the straps, determine beforehand where you will place by putting st markers in the stitches. You will want the front and back straps to be adjacent to each other. Attach your yarn in any of the four places you set for your strap. Ch 70. 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch back down. Sl st into the next st on your dress and sc in each st around to the next st marker you placed for your strap. Repeat around, making sc in each st, and your remaining straps. When you get back to where you started you will do 1 round of sc in each st around. This will make the straps thicker. Finish off, weave in ends.   Designer : Hands of Zeal Crochet   Disclaimer: measurements are approximate due to differences between centimeters and inches, needle sizes and tension.
